THE HANDMADE COMPANY

HANDCRATED KITCHENS AND FURNITURE

WELCOME TO THE HANDMADE COMPANY

Established by Michael Tibbott Jones in 1995 as Country Treasures, the business has recently been rebranded as The Handmade Company, specialising in unique handcrafted kitchens and furniture, using sustainably sourced materials.

'Have nothing in your house you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful'  William Morris

In setting up the business 25 years ago, the original inspiration came from William Morris, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the other masters of the Arts and Crafts Movement of the 19th Century.   We continue to be passionate about keeping traditional heritage crafts alive and in a world where fast mass production is king, it is no easy task.

Working in many types of properties, included listed buildings with their wonky walls and sloping ceilings, true bespoke furniture is the only solution, always respectful of the property's past.

In addition to our own handcrafted furniture, we also restore furniture, clock cases and many other precious items, carefully preserving its authenticity.

With our love of everything vintage we also have a shop where we have for sale quality pieces of furniture and collectables, predominantly from the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian periods and early to mid 20th century.

This love of everything vintage also extends to Michael's passion for VW campervans, many of which he has restored over the last 30 years.  After many years and many requests this lead to the creation of another business, The Old Camper Company, wwww.theoldcampercompany.co.uk , where we are happy to share the love and hire our beautiful boys; Hector, Barney and Roobarb, for your wedding day.

Originally part of Country Treasures the shop has been established in Rugby for over 25 years. The shop is a continuation of the Handmade Company selling individual handcrafted furniture made from reclaimed materials, together with vintage furniture and collectables from the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, early to mid 20th Century periods both restored and unrestored.

We love being given the challenge of returning a piece of furniture or collectable to it's former glory, whether it be damaged by years of wear and tear or an unfortunate accident.  We take the piece carefully apart and repair, using original materials where possible, following closely the methods used by the master craftsmen and women who created it many years before.
